Additive Manufacturing Technician I


Job Summary:

The Additive Manufacturing Technician I will support the creation of high quality prototype parts

through management of input Computer-Aided Design (CAD) data, setup and operation of 3D printing

equipment, and bench finishing parts to meet customer needs. The role will support customers through

multiple design iterations from concept to production level. The Additive Manufacturing Technician I

will be mentored and supported by team members on project work and customer interactions.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Perform bench finishing and cleaning of parts formed through various processes.

• Operate and maintain various types of 3D printing machines.

• Load machine with proper build platform for printing.

• Maintain machinery, tools, and equipment in a clean and organized state after use.

• Convert polished Magics files into various machine languages.

• Inspect and edit initial 3D renders before printing using Magics software.

• Support multi-phase prototyping process including troubleshooting, design changes, and issue

resolution.

• Design and create fixtures or jigs as needed for various 3D printed parts.


Education and Experience (required):

• High school diploma or equivalent.

• No previous experience required.


Education and Experience (preferred):

• Associate degree in Additive Manufacturing, CAD Design, or related.

• 4 years of experience with any of the following: 3D Printing, CAD software, or hands-on

materials shaping and surfacing.

• Experience with various additive manufacturing processes including stereolithography (SLA),

fused deposition modeling (FDM), selective laser melting (SLM) or selective laser sintering (SLS).



Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities (required):

• Strong computer skills, including file management.

• Ability to follow details, think analytically, and stay organized.

• Ability to setup, operate, and maintain 3D printers.

• Ability to interact with members of multiple resource groups.

• Ability to read CAD, Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T), and engineering drawings.


Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities (preferred):

• Knowledge of the following CAD software: TEBIS, Magics, 3D Sprint, GrabCAD, or CATIA.

• Good ability to setup, operate, and maintain 3D printers.

• Strong computer skills, including file management.

• Strong ability to interact with members of multiple resource groups.

• Ability to interpret CAD, GD&T, and engineering drawings.
