HRU Technical Resources is seeking a highly motivated Digital Sculptor to assist a leading, cutting edge manufacturer of automobiles in Warren, MI.


Type of Role: 12 Month Contract (Extension OR direct hire likely)


Schedule: Onsite, 1st shift


Compensation: $38.00-$42.00/HR

Description: In the dynamic realm of cutting-edge automotive design, the Clay Sculptor assumes a pivotal role in bringing conceptual visions to life through meticulously crafted three-dimensional clay models. Leveraging expert knowledge in hard modeling, automotive engineering, and sculpting techniques, the sculptor intricately sculpts models in both scale and full size, ensuring they meet the stringent specifications of innovative automotive projects. By utilizing advanced data acquisition equipment, the sculptor guarantees precise measurements and collaborates closely with internal and external stakeholders to align with the evolving demands of automotive design. Beyond sculpting, the role encompasses problem-solving in design and engineering, occasional team training, and staying abreast of emerging industry trends. Proficiency in cutting-edge software tools such as Alias and animation further elevates the sculptor's ability to shape the future of automotive design. A foundation in fields like Industrial Design or Engineering serves as the launchpad for this exhilarating role at the forefront of automotive innovation.


Duties/Responsibilities:

• Use programs such as Alias, Neb, Sub-d, NX, Maya and Blender to render different animations and models.

• Sculpt 3D clay concept or production models to meet specifications.

• Set templates of clay to develop form and apply clay to armatures in preparation for surfacing.

• Take dimensions from model with data acquisition equipment to obtain accurate measurements and check dimensional information for duplication

• Create new and improve existing clay and digital models using templates, points, and other software program data provided by a supervisor or designated leader.

• Coordinate input from internal and external customers to better understand customer needs and/or perceptions.

• Aid in design and engineering problem solving.

• Perform occasional instruction and training of other modeling personnel.

• Actively identify new areas for learning and takes advantage of learning opportunities.

• Monitor current product developments and trends in areas of expertise

• Serve as the single point contact for design management.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in industrial design, Engineering, Sculpture, ceramics or equivalent  

• 1-2 years of relevant sculpting experience

• Familiarlty with Alias, Neb, Sub-d, NX, Maya or Blender

• Expert knowledge of hard modeling, Automotive engineering, Sculpting, Clay Modeling, Form and Line development, 3D Models, Surfacing.

• Ability to use clay modeling equipment.

• Ability to read blueprints and/or engineering drawings.

• Ability to interface with engineering criteria.

• Basic knowledge of UG.

• Alias and animation experience.

• Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.

• Familiarity with various email communication tools (i.e., Yahoo, Lotus Notes).

• Strong leadership and mentoring skills necessary to provide support and constructive performance feedback.

• Advanced ability to identify issues, generate solutions and choose appropriate alternatives using root cause analysis.
