HRU Technical Resources is seeking an Quality Inspector to assist a large nonprofit research & development organization located in Eagle, WI.


Type of Role: 4 Month Contract (Extension OR direct hire possibility)


Schedule: ONSITE 1st Shift


Compensation: $26.00-30.00/HR

Description: The inspector will collaborate closely with the supplier team to understand the schedule for parts and coordinate the inspection schedule accordingly. Responsibilities include performing in-process inspections at each manufacturing step and batch release for parts in production to ensure that finished parts meet specifications. Additionally, the inspector will participate in the kitting process to verify kit contents, material traceability, and the accuracy of all other records completed accurately. This role focuses on inspecting welded parts according to defined quality standards and reporting any trends or issues to quality engineering for further investigation. Additionally, Quality Inspector II conducts visual and functional inspections of products throughout the production process, contributing to safety, efficiency, and quality improvements. Collaboration is key, as this role supports quality engineering in addressing supplier and assembly issues, develops inspection instructions, and participates in activities such as calibration programs and internal audits. Maintaining accurate inspection records, providing mentorship to other QA staff, and contributing to overall quality assurance are integral aspects of this position.


Duties/Responsibilities:

•  Performs inspection of complex fabricated parts using hand tools such as calipers, height gages, tape measures, micrometers, and angle gauges.

•  Inspects welded parts to defined quality standards.

• Reports on any trends to quality engineering to ensure containment and may recommend corrective measures to address these issues

• Performs in-process and final visual and functional inspections of products to defined criteria.

• Supports quality engineering in investigating supplier and assembly issues and may recommend corrective measures.

• Records and recommends preliminary disposition of nonconforming material in an electronic system.

•  Identifies and helps to support implementation of improvements to safety, efficiency, and quality.

• With input from engineering, develops inspection instructions for complex fabricated parts and assemblies.

• Mentors other QA staff in inspection techniques and procedures

 

Minimum Qualifications:

• Associate degree in engineering or related field; 6 years’ experience with inspection of complex fabricated parts, or an equivalent combination of education and experience in a related field.

• Ability to interpret complicated 2D part drawings for complex assemblies and determine if the part is fabricated to the drawing.

• Knowledge and understanding of measurement methodologies and techniques.

• Ability to work under limited to no supervision by management.

• Exceptional communication skills and professionalism as this individual is a representative of Battelle at our supplier site.

• Independently perform inspections visually and by using a variety of hand tools, micrometers, calipers, etc., to assure adherence to established quality standards.

• Ability to identify product problems and work with the supplier to resolve issues with little to no supervision.

• Maintain inspection records for review.

• Must be a US Citizen with the ability to obtain a US government security clearance.
