Location: Minneapolis, MN

Schedule: 100% onsite | 9x80 (M-TH; M-F) – 1st shift

Compensation: $57.83/hour with optional benefits (OT eligible)

Position Description:

Seeking a Senior Designer to support program initiatives. You'll create innovative and practical mechanical and electro-mechanical concepts and designs for components, assemblies, tools, and products of varying complexity. Working closely with engineering, vendors, manufacturing, quality, and customers on design specifications, you'll ensure designs are free of layout process defects. You may assist engineers with defining design standards and configurations. Expertly applying Computer Aided Design (CAD) methodologies, theories, and techniques, you'll review completed engineering documents to ensure compliance with engineering and military standards, procedures, specifications, and accuracy of calculations and dimensions. Providing expert technical consultation to the division and customer community, you'll bring comprehensive and in-depth knowledge of design. Current Creo 7 experience is required, with MBD experience considered a plus.


Responsibilities:

  • Develop highly innovative concepts that satisfy functional and operational requirements for existing product lines and new product development programs.
  • Ensure CAD models can easily transition to modeling and simulation software.
  • Prepare the most complex design layouts, schematics, or sketches to satisfy system and integration requirements within cost and producibility constraints.
  • Prepare drawing packages to military or equivalent ASME standards.
  • Check completed layouts, drawings, test plans, test reports, procedures, and change history documentation for clarity, completeness, conformance to standards, specifications, and codes, and ensure accuracy of calculations and dimensions.
  • Coordinate closely with systems engineers to ensure designs satisfy contractual requirements.
  • Evaluate completed drawings, specifications, and procedures for producibility and viability of design, appropriateness of tolerances, fits, finishes, materials, and validate integration of equipment.


Skills Required:

  • Proficiency in tolerance analysis and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Proficiency in the use of applicable CAD equipment and drafting techniques including 3D modeling and manipulation of files.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of military drawings and specifications, and applicable MILSPEC/STD's.
  • Comprehensive product line knowledge at the component, subsystem, and system levels.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of production methods and understanding of human factors.
  • Knowledge of MBD (Model Based Definition) is a plus. Recent AutoCAD experience is beneficial.

  • Experience with MBD (Model Based Definition) is advantageous.
  • Working knowledge of production methods and understanding of human factors.


Experience Required:

  • Minimum 9 years of design/drafting experience using Pro-E/Creo CAD system. Creo 7 experience is required. Recent AutoCAD experience is beneficial.


Experience Preferred:

  • Strong preference for candidates with past Combat Vehicle experience.
  • Experience with relevant applications in a defense environment. MBD experience is a plus. Recent AutoCAD experience is beneficial.


Education Required:

  • An Associate Degree with emphasis in engineering drafting/design or an equivalent combination of training and experience; plus a minimum of nine additional years drafting and design experience, including five years of advanced design concepts and applications.
