HRU is seeking a skilled Controls Engineer to assist a large automotive manufacturer at their facility in Beford, IN.   


Contract: 6-month contract (likely to be extended OR direct hire)


Schedule: 2nd OR 3rd shift (Weekends after training)


Compensation: $40.00-$52.00/HR (Dependent on experience)

Description: As a Controls Engineer, you will not only design and develop control systems but also be at the forefront of control system design, responsible for translating written sequences of operation into tangible solutions. Your expertise will be pivotal in crafting pneumatic, electrical, and hydraulic piping diagrams, as well as designing electrical control panels and developing programmable logic controller (PLC) software. With your proficiency in AutoCAD and familiarity with basic electrical and safety standards, you will play a key role in ensuring the seamless integration of control mechanisms. Lastly, your technical prowess will extend to providing support for the installation of tools and equipment, and you will be instrumental in offering training and technical assistance to plant personnel. Job Duties/Responsibilities:


  • Engineer and design pneumatic piping diagrams
  • Engineer and design electrical wiring diagrams
  • Engineer and design hydraulic piping diagrams
  • Design electrical control panels
  • Design programmable logic controller software
  • Design programmable human machine interface (HMI) software
  • Tryout, debug and provide start-up support for control systems
  • Provide technical support for installation of tools and equipment
  • Provide technical support for training of plant personnel
  • Travel to plant sites as required


Minimum Qualifications:


  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical field OR technical degree
  • 2-3 years’ experience required
  • Proficient with application of programmable machine controls hardware and software
  • Proficient with application of Servo drive hardware and software
  • Proficient with AutoCAD
  • Familiarity with basic electrical standards
  • Capable of supervision
