HRU Technical Resources is seeking an experienced, dependable Mechanical Engineer to assist a large American defense industrial company located in Clearwater, FL.


Contract: 12 Month Contract (Extension likely)


Schedule: Onsite M-F 1st shift


Compensation: $35.00-$40.00/HR

Description: Your job duties as a Mechanical engineer will vary, although you will be designing functional, reliable, and cost-effective heavy-duty vehicle components. Working under close supervision, you'll perform basic engineering calculations, investigations, and tasks according to industry standards. Collaborating with senior engineers, you'll support the preparation of plans, designs, and computation methods for both existing and new vehicles, ensuring compliance with engineering criteria and drawing standards. You'll evaluate designs for performance, safety, and reliability, providing technical assistance for production support. Effective communication with internal peers, external suppliers, and customers is essential, along with utilizing analytical and mathematical approaches to optimize designs and resolve technical issues reported. This role demands a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, mechanical knowledge of automotive or heavy-vehicle equipment, and experience with high-level CAD systems, contributing to delivering innovative solutions in the industry.


Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Support senior engineers in the preparation of basic plans, designs, computation methods, and/or reporting.
  • Under close supervision, work on projects of limited complexity in a support role.
  • Collaborate as needed with other engineering or business support disciplines internally as well as suppliers externally.
  • Maintain effective communication with suppliers, internal and external customers, and outside resources concerning technical issues.
  • Enforce the proper use of engineering criteria and drawing standards. Ensure that technical issues are conducted within the framework of company policies and procedures.
  • Evaluate designs for performance, safety, and reliability.
  • Perform and direct the preparation of layouts, drawings, specifications, and bills of material.
  • Provide non-complex technical assistance for production support.
  • Analyze and resolve issues reported to Engineering via verbal or written communication.
  • Utilize analytical and mathematical approaches to calculate or model system performance and optimize designs.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Accredited bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field along with Internship experience or six (6) or more months of related work experience.
  • Mechanical knowledge of automotive or heavy-vehicle equipment and related systems.
  • Experience with a high-level CAD system.
