Job Title: Microbiology Technician

Location: West Jefferson, OH

Contract: 6 months contract to direct-hire

Schedule: Onsite, M-F (1st Shift) Must have Flexibility to work night, weekend, and holiday hours on occasion.

Compensation: $21/hour with optional benefits plans

Onboarding Requirements: Background Check/Employment Verification and Drug Screen


Must be able to start by May 27th 2024.


JOB SUMMARY

Are you passionate about science and eager to contribute to groundbreaking research? Our client’s Biomedical Research Center is seeking a dedicated In-Vitro Assay/Microbiology Technician. This role provides a unique opportunity to support cutting-edge in-vitro assays, including PCR, ELISA, and cell-based assays, alongside other exciting microbiology activities. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES


Technical:

  • Work with highly hazardous biological/toxic materials in Biological Safety Level 2 (BSL-2) and Biological Safety Level 3 (BSL-3) laboratories.
  • Conduct assays on samples collected from in vivo pathogenicity/efficacy/toxicity studies as well as human clinical samples.
  • Contribute to the development and validation of equipment and biological assays.

Equipment/Lab:

  • Act as lab technical point of contact.
  • Perform routine maintenance and/or calibration of equipment as necessary.
  • Use electronic databases for sample tracking.

Documentation/Compliance/Safety:

  • Adhere to all laboratory safety requirements.
  • Create and maintain study files in accordance with standard operating procedures.

Leadership/Teamwork:

  • Train and guide less experienced staff on specific tasks.
  • Work independently and efficiently in a team environment.

Analysis/Funcitonal:

  • Work on assignments that are semi-routine in nature where ability to recognize deviation from accepted practice is required.
  • Conduct standard as well as non-standard tasks under close supervision and guidance of more experienced staff.


THE FOLLOWING IS REQUIRED

  • Associate degree in microbiology/molecular biology plus 1 year’s experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience in a related field.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Must be a US citizen.
  • Ability to obtain/maintain certification in the Biological Suitability Assessment Program (BSAP).
  • Ability to obtain/maintain DOJ Security Risk Assessment (SRA) approval.
  • Ability to obtain/maintain CDC approval to work with BSAT material.
  • Must be willing to work in a biosafety level 2 (BSL2) and 3 (BSL3) (biocontainment) environment and able to wear appropriate respiratory protection.
  • Must be willing to be immunized with FDA licensed vaccines and Investigational New Drugs (IND) recommended for persons at risk to occupational exposure of biological agents.
  • Must be willing to participate in random drug screening.
  • Respond appropriately to various alarms and potential emergency situations.
  • Sufficiently medically fit to do work in a lab wearing appropriate respiratory equipment and perform all assigned duties.
  • Ability to work night, weekend, and holiday hours.
