Senior Designer | Phoenix, AZ

 

Contract: 6 months with possible extension and/or direct hire

Schedule: 9x80 (every other Friday off) | 1st shift

Compensation: $52.58/hour

Are you passionate about protecting our troops and supporting the US Military? Join us in Phoenix, AZ, as a Senior Vehicle Designer and play a pivotal role in developing innovative mechanical and electro-mechanical concepts that enhance the capabilities of our military vehicles.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Develop innovative mechanical and electro-mechanical concepts and designs for components, assemblies, tools, and products.
  • Collaborate closely with engineering, vendors, manufacturing, quality, and customers to define design specifications.
  • Ensure designs adhere to engineering, military, and industrial standards and are free of layout process defects.
  • Assist in defining design standards and configurations.
  • Apply CAD methodologies, theories, and techniques, with proficiency in Creo 7.
  • Review engineering documents for compliance and accuracy.
  • Provide expert technical consultation on design matters.
  • Develop concepts for existing product lines and new development programs.
  • Prepare complex design layouts, schematics, and sketches to meet system requirements.
  • Ensure CAD models transition seamlessly to simulation software.
  • Prepare drawing packages to military or equivalent ASME standards.
  • Coordinate with systems engineers to meet contractual requirements.
  • Evaluate drawings, specifications, and procedures for producibility and integration.


Requirements:

  • Proficiency in tolerance analysis and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Proficient in CAD equipment and drafting techniques, including 3D modeling.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of military drawings, specifications, MILSPEC/STD's, and production methods.
  • Familiarity with Model Based Definition (MBD) is advantageous.


Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with MBD is highly desirable.
  • Understanding of production methods and human factors.


Experience:

  • Minimum 9 years of design/drafting experience using Pro-E/Creo CAD system.
  • Creo 7 experience is required.


Education:

  • Associate Degree with emphasis in engineering drafting/design or equivalent.
  • Minimum nine additional years of drafting and design experience, including five years of advanced design concepts and applications.
