Job Title: Supervisor of Finance & Planning (Utilities)

Location: Lansing, MI

Employment Type: Direct Hire

Schedule: 100% onsite, Monday-Friday (first shift)

Compensation: $89,500 - $109,000/year with benefits and paid time off

Position Summary:

Are you a dynamic finance professional seeking a challenging role? We have an exciting opportunity in Lansing, MI, for a Supervisor of Finance & Planning in the utilities sector. In this role, you will oversee various financial functions, including operating cash and investments, retirement fund investments, capital budgeting, O&M budgeting, rate setting, cost of service analysis, and corporate financial analysis. You will directly supervise a team of analysts and report to the Manager of Finance.


Essential Functions:

  • Supervise personnel engaged in treasury activities, O&M budgeting, capital budgeting, and rate setting.
  • Review daily cash position and recommend appropriate investments.
  • Maintain and establish detailed departmental budgets.
  • Report on monthly departmental operating budget results and compile quarterly variance responses.
  • Establish and maintain detailed capital budget by project.
  • Provide rate strategies and supervise execution of cost of service studies.
  • Provide financial analysis for strategic and integrated resource planning.
  • Ensure compliance with all company policies and work rules.
  • Maintain predictable and reliable attendance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.


Job Specifications:


Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration.
  • Advanced training related to this position's responsibilities, including leadership skills or treasury professional certification.
  • Minimum of seven years of professional experience in finance, accounting, or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum two years of leadership experience or enrollment in the emerging leader’s program.
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, and general PC skills.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to analyze data, multitask, and manage multiple projects.
  • Ability to manage own work and appointments while working independently toward deadlines.
  • Valid MI driver's license with an acceptable driving record.


Preferred:

  • Supervisory and/or utility experience preferred.
