Our client is a market leader in the building materials/construction industry and is looking a Design Engineering Manager. This person is responsible for proactively planning and organizing the day-to-day and long-term management of the company’s System Design and Application Engineering teams. Reporting to the Director of Operations, they will own all Engineering processes from sales forecast to post-commissioning and warranty. They will minimize Engineering risks by ensuring that company’s designs and methods meet all applicable standards, codes, and industry best practices.  This is a MEP system / application engineering manager and not a product/manufacturing engineer. This individual's key target clients will be architects, landscape architects, and designers. They must be able to read and write architectural / construction drawings and understand AIA (North American) / RIBA (European & Middle Eastern) design processes. 


Responsibilities:

·     Leader of High Performing Engineering Teams with a Continuous Improvement culture

·     Developing Strategies for highly reliable project designs

·     Costing and Estimating consultancy projects

·     Budgeting the MEP construction cost for the consultancy project 

·     Responsible for four directives:

o  The information depth, quality, and accuracy of all information needed for a customer to realize their product design.

o  Design Information Fulfillment – The information depth, quality, and accuracy of all “customer information that supports our designs.

o  Engineering – Managing the production of risk-free, feature engineering that keeps our company's reputation safe and our customers out of trouble.

o  Reviewing Process flow diagrams for mechanical and electrical design.

·     Promptly and accurately respond to Customer and Prospect requests for information.

·     Ensure that information is stored correctly and retrievable easily

·     Project Management, Custom Components

·     Attend meetings, respond to RFIs, and prepare drawings package submissions.

·     Prepare project specifications.

·     Prepare project schedule and resource planning.

·     Design and engineering of custom and modified components and equipment

·     Create Sustainable Competitive Advantages

o  Keep company’s engineering quality up to date with the industry’s design standards and best practices

o  Undertake any other assignments as reasonably issued by the Director of Operations

o  Adhere to the “Code of Business Conduct & Ethics”

 

Requirements:

  • 10+ years’ experience in application mechanical and electrical engineering in an MEP contractor environment. Consultancy experience is also welcomed.
  • An undergraduate degree in Engineering or higher
  • 5+ years of Engineering Leadership experience with multidisciplinary teams
  • Strong Planning and Organizational skills
  • Ability to develop key metrics for engineering and disciplined focus on maintaining KPI data
  • Project management experience with construction or consultancy projects, PMI training, or certification as an asset
  • Ability to lead and manage change within an organization
  • Analytical skills appropriate for effective and proactive management of financial and operational metrics
  • Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated leadership skills
