KEY COMPETENCIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Regulatory Knowledge
- Interpret a citation using the Program Policy Manual (PPM) and Program Information Bulletins (PIP) to support sites with recommendations/next course of action
- Support plants with all required record keeping
- Ability to verify contractors comply with all regulatory, insurance and company requirements
- Leverage knowledge of site-specific conditions to influence discussions with MSHA (historical, trends, specific hazards)
Safety and Compliance Training
- Conduct new miner training and provide sites training resources for safety training
- Manage Part 46 Training compliance program.
- Analyze and use data to identify and create opportunities for new training initiatives
- Provide safety training for contractors on site
Managing Safety Programs
- Lead and proactively promote integration of Values Safety Program
- Ability to influence without formal authority with regional leadership
- Conduct Root Cause Analyses, present to regional leadership, and implement of Best Management Practices
- Conduct Near-Miss, Loss Control, and Injury Investigations
- Identify site inspection data trends and implement site/regional improvements
- Lead, organize, and follow up on MSHA site safety inspection program.
Risk Management Knowledge
- Explain Site specific health hazards (NOA, Silica, Noise)
- Ensure proper recordkeeping site’s of IH results
- Support locations with completion of worker’s compensation process
- Active in industry associations (VTCA, NCAA, Etc.)
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: High School Diploma or GED
Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree in a related field
Additional Experience:
- 5+ years of safety or industry operations management experience
- Strong knowledge of MSHA and OSHA regulations, industry best practices, and risk management
- Proven track record in managing safety programs and developing training
- Ability to travel on short notice if needed
Required Licenses & Certifications: Valid driver’s license
