I have two clients who are actively looking to hire Scheme Actuaries, across a few different locations.

At one end, this could be experienced people who have held their certificate for 5/10+ years. Taking on ownership of some excellent, long-term relationships from the current Partners as they reduce their workload and switch focus. It can be challenging to find good opportunities at this level, but this role will allow you to take on some really good clients and to have full ownerships for them from day one.

At the other, you could have 2-3 years PQE and be keen to obtain your certificate, but also to start using it immediately. Or anywhere in-between. Sometimes if you gain your practicing certificate at an early stage, you can find yourself acting as number 2 or 3 on clients, with a long wait ahead. If you’d rather have full ownership of a good range of clients from the start, it’s definitely something to think about!
