Senior Staff Accountant

Salary: $80,000 to $100,000
Schedule: Monday to Friday
Location: Tempe, Arizona -  close to the airport
The role is office, with chance of hybrid for the right circumstances and person.

Generally the comp and benefits include base, two weeks vacation, AZ Sick Pay, group health, 401k and flex scheduling allowing team members to take care of personal appointments when not possible outside office hours.

Responsibilities:

 

  • Self-starter and can take a task to completion upon receiving proper instruction
    Problem-solver that can identify a problem and possible solutions and promptly communicate to Owner those problems that need further attention
    · Decision-maker in the context of interactions with others, but can seek further instruction when needed
    · Understand that change and process improvement are integral with the Company’s environment and flexibility and good professional judgement are required in delivering professional services to clients
    · Integrity, respect and professionalism in all aspects of your interactions with the team, clients and the public

 Specific Skills Required:

  • Computer proficiency (the Company’s environment is 100% paperless with electronic document processing and storage)
    · Accounting software proficiency (i.e., Thomson Reuters Accounting CS, QuickBooks)
    · Tax preparation software proficiency
    · Microsoft Office suite proficiency (i.e., MS Outlook, MS Excel, MS Word)
    · Adobe Acrobat document processing proficiency
    · Business writing skills (must be able to prepare and modify business correspondence and business email correspondence to clients and tax agencies) 
  • Engage in incoming and outgoing telephone calls and the preparation of emails to clients as a
    professional representative of the Company to obtain documents and information needed in
    providing professional services to the Company’s clients
    Prepare and process electronic documents as an integral part of a structured and efficient
    paperless work environment
    · Interpret information provided by clients in the context of federal and state tax law to result in the highest quality deliverable in the tax reporting process
    · Prepare individual tax reporting with information provided by the client
    · Prepare business tax reporting with information provided by the client (i.e., Corporation,
    Partnership)
    · Prepare fiduciary tax reporting with information provided by the client (i.e., Estate, Trust)
    · Prepare annual accounting for business clients from information provided by client including the preparation of adjustments to a client prepared accounting
    · Supervise team members during the accounting and tax reporting processes in support of the
    Company’s quality control system
    · Utilize the Company’s practice management system to support an accurate and efficient
    paperless work environment
    · Assist the Owner with technology and management projects to support best practices in
    providing the highest quality professional services to clients
    · Perform other professional duties and tasks at the direction of the Owner in providing the highest quality professional services to clients  

 

Education and Relevant Work Experience Required:

  • College-level education (four-year accounting education and degree)
    · CPA or EA designation
    · Experience in a public accounting firm environment
