Experienced IC V & V Engineer, Cambridge based, £ 60K+


Are you an experienced IC Verification Engineer who is looking for a new challenge?


This is an excellent opportunity for a capable IC Verification Engineer to join a high calibre multi-disciplined R & D driven technology company whose IP and technology is used in high end mobile devices, drones, autonomous vehicles and consumer electronic devices around the world.


They are looking for a dynamic and ambitious Engineer to join a growing team of world-class engineers, who will make their mark on ultra precise imaging and positioning control technology.


They are particularly looking for someone who is passionate, interested, and interesting and able to play a role in a highly skilled team, finding efficient ways to solve problems and ensure quality whilst balancing the needs of multiple products and projects.



You must be passionate and interested in the development of custom IC to deliver high quality RTL design, supporting relevant verification strategy and plan, with a strong knowledge of frontend and backend digital IC design flow including coverage, synthesis, static timing analysis (STA), linting, formality, GDS layout, etc.


You will need to be able to play a significant role in a highly skilled team, prioritising activities, balancing long and short-term objectives and finding efficient ways to solve problems.


Main Responsibilities


  • Verification and validation of new mixed signal microcontroller IC’s.
  • Creation and execution of test cases in Python on simulation and FPGA platforms pre-tapeout, on silicon post-tapeout, and ATPG for production test to achieve right-first-time designs.
  • Some dev-ops, to grow and maintain the infrastructure required to build IC designs and automate tool flows.


Skills, Qualifications and Experience


Essential Skills


  • 5+ years of experience in IC verification (simulation and FPGA) and validation (silicon)
  • Strong knowledge of Python and object-oriented software design
  • Strong automated test experience (functional, regression, reliability, performance)
  • Experience with System Verilog for IC/FPGA verification
  • Excellent unit test skills, and experience with python frameworks (pytest, unittest)
  • Good problem-solving skills, knowledge and use of bug tracking tools (YouTrack)
  • Good experience with industry standard CI/CD tools for IC development (Jenkins)
  • Good source code and package management skills (git, pypi)


Working Knowledge


  • Understanding of IC development processes and embedded electronics systems
  • Knowledge of chip internal structure (bus structures, CPU topology, registers, memory)
  • Cable driver and serial interface communications (I3C, I2C, USB, SPI)
  • Knowledge of System Verilog Assertions (SVA)


Desirable Skills


  • Experience in UVM



Desirable -


  • Experience with unit test frameworks like pytest, build scripting, Jenkins CI/CD automation
  • Familiar with Xilinx FPGA development flow and tool like Vivado and Chipscope for debugging
  • An appreciation of real time embedded firmware and CPU architecture
  • Good understanding of SoC architecture and integration
  • A working knowledge of mixed signal circuitry
  • Some PCB electronics design experiences are desirable along with general bench debug and test skills
