Mechanical Design Engineers, all levels, Cardiff - £ Good, comprehensive package, salary dependant upon experience


An excellent opportunity for capable Mechanical Design Engineers, with plastic and sheet metal experience, at Graduate level + to join the established R & D team of this global technology company and be extensively involved in the design, development and evaluation of new components, assemblies and products which will be sold worldwide.


WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING


Depending upon your level of experience, you will be doing some of -


  • The design, development, and evaluation of components and assemblies from concept to mass production for new products, making sure they comply with customer requirements, liaising with other areas of R&D to ensure this happens.
  • Applying technical knowledge to resolve issues and coordinate development issues into areas of expertise.
  • Ensure assigned mechanical parts are available on schedule for sample builds according to agreed schedules.
  • Support the Project Leader to ensure cost requirements for mechanical aspects of developments are available when required.
  • Support the Project Leader to create and maintain project plans / schedules for mechanical aspects of developments.
  • Consider new technology to improve and implement new R&D systems / processes.
  • Mentor and support junior members of the Mechanical Design team with the technical aspect of their work.


WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR


  • Degree level qualification in an Engineering based discipline plus 3 years relevant industry experience, or at least 5 years relevant industry experience in a similar role.
  • Component design (plastic and sheet metal).
  • Assembly design.
  • Comprehensive understanding of manufacturing processes (injection moulding & metal pressing).
  • Materials selection.
  • Product and component evaluation.
  • Knowledge of project management processes.
  • High level problem solving skills with the ability to efficiently resolve technical issues.
  • High Level 3D CAD skills, preferably CATIA V5 and ENOVIA.
  • Knowledge of various quality system methodologies e.g. Lean, 5 Whys, Six Sigma, etc.
  • Must have a valid driving license.
  • Must hold a valid passport and be willing to travel internationally.
