Job Summary:

As a Real Estate Controller at [Company Name], you will play a critical role in overseeing the financial operations and reporting for our real estate portfolio. This position requires strong financial acumen, real estate industry knowledge, and leadership abilities. You will be responsible for managing financial records, ensuring compliance with accounting regulations, and providing strategic financial guidance to support our real estate investments.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Financial Oversight: Oversee the financial operations of the real estate portfolio, including property accounting, budgeting, financial reporting, and analysis.
  • Financial Reporting: Prepare accurate and timely financial statements, reports, and analyses for management, investors, and regulatory agencies.
  • Budget Management: Develop and manage property-level and portfolio-level budgets, ensuring alignment with financial goals and objectives.
  • Cash Flow Management: Monitor cash flow for each property, optimizing liquidity and ensuring sufficient funds for property operations and investments.
  • Financial Analysis: Conduct in-depth financial analyses, including variance analysis, cost analysis, and ROI calculations to support decision-making.
  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with all relevant accounting standards, tax regulations, and industry-specific guidelines.
  • Audit Coordination: Collaborate with external auditors and tax professionals to facilitate audits and tax filings.
  • Asset Management: Work closely with asset management teams to assess property performance, identify opportunities for improvement, and implement financial strategies to enhance returns.
  • Risk Management: Identify and mitigate financial risks associated with the real estate portfolio, including interest rate risk, market risk, and operational risk.
  • Systems and Processes: Implement and optimize financial systems and processes to streamline reporting and improve efficiency.
  • Team Leadership: Build and lead a team of financial professionals, providing guidance, mentorship, and performance feedback.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field; CPA or CFA certification preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in real estate accounting and finance.
  • Strong understanding of real estate accounting principles, industry standards, and regulations.
  • Proficiency in real estate accounting software and financial modeling tools.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and external partners.
  • Adaptability and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic real estate environment.
