The Senior Bookkeeper in a family office plays a critical role in managing and overseeing the financial records and transactions of the family's wealth and assets. This position requires a high level of expertise in accounting principles, attention to detail, and the ability to handle complex financial tasks. The Senior Bookkeeper reports directly to the Family Office Manager and collaborates with other members of the family office team.


Responsibilities:


Financial Record Keeping:

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records for multiple entities, including the family's personal finances, investments, and other holdings.
  • Record day-to-day financial transactions, ensuring accuracy and completeness.

Bank Reconciliation:

  • Reconcile bank statements and investment accounts regularly.
  • Investigate and resolve any discrepancies in a timely manner.

Financial Reporting:

  • Generate and analyze financial reports, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
  • Prepare customized financial reports for family members and stakeholders.

Budgeting and Forecasting:

  • Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and financial forecasts.
  • Monitor actual performance against budgeted figures and provide variance analysis.

Expense Management:

  • Track and categorize expenses, ensuring adherence to budgetary guidelines.
  • Work closely with family members and other stakeholders to manage discretionary spending.

Compliance and Documentation:

  • Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards and regulations.
  • Maintain organized and well-documented financial records for audits and tax filings.

Collaboration:

  • Collaborate with other members of the family office team, including tax professionals, investment advisors, and legal counsel.
  • Provide financial information and support as needed for decision-making.

Process Improvement:

  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and implement efficient financial procedures.
  • Stay updated on industry best practices and incorporate them into daily operations.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Proven experience as a bookkeeper or accountant, preferably in a family office or high-net-worth environment.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Discretion and the ability to handle sensitive financial information with confidentiality.
