$65,000 + Annual Salary, Dependent on Experience

 

One of East Tennessee's fastest-growing law firms is seeking an experienced Controller to join its team! The Controller will oversee the operations of the firm and the accounting department along with growing their team. The ideal candidate will have QuickBooks Online experience and experience working for legal firms with the ability to come in and run with the accounting department to all their locations.

 

The Controller will be responsible for:

  • Overseeing the accounting department, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, payroll, and database management
  • Planning, directing, and coordinating all accounting operational functions
  • Managing the accumulation and consolidation of all financial data necessary for an accurate accounting of consolidated business results
  • Coordinating and preparing internal and external financial statements
  • Coordinating activities of external auditors
  • Providing management with information vital to the decision-making process
  • Assessing current accounting operations, offering recommendations for improvement, and implementing new processes
  • Evaluating accounting and internal control systems
  • Evaluating the effectiveness of accounting software and supporting database, as needed
  • Recommending benchmarks that will be used to measure the company’s performance
  • Producing the annual budget and forecasts; reports significant budget differences to management
  • Providing financial analysis, with emphasis on capital investments, pricing decisions, and contract negotiations
  • Filing quarterly and annual compliance reports with creditors
  • Ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal government requirements
  • Acting as a liaison with various insurance carriers and fostering effective relationships with client representatives
  • Other duties as assigned by the company

 

The Controller will excel with:

  • 7 + years of relevant accounting management experience
  • Experience in accounting in the legal realm
  • At least 3 years of experience with payroll systems and related software programs
  • Experience in the administration of benefits and compensation programs and other human resource programs
  • Background in employment law and other government compliance regulations
  • QuickBooks online experience preferred
  • Supervisory skills and relationship management proficiency
  • Excellent time management and organization skills
  • Excellent oral and written skills

 

The Controller will be rewarded with:
