Controls Engineer
A leading automation provider is seeking a Controls Engineer to join their team and contribute to custom solution optimization. The Controls Engineer will be responsible for troubleshooting, programming and implementing control systems, ensuring adherence to standards and specifications. This position requires proven PLC, HMI proficiency and experience with AutoCAD.
Location: Maryville, Tennessee
Salary: up to $100,000 per year (dependent on experience) + Bonus!
The Controls Engineer will be responsible for:
- Designing electrical drawings using AutoCAD or Unidraf.
- Designing and programming PLCs for OMRON, Mitsubishi, Allen Bradley, and other systems as necessary.
- Designing and programming HMIs for Proface, Omron, Mitsubishi, and other systems as necessary.
- Designing and programming AGC/AGV systems for Daifuku Vehicles/Hardware.
- Creating AGC/AGV system layouts using AutoCAD.
- Performing software and hardware setup and adjustments related to projects.
- Installing and commissioning target systems.
- Providing technical support for existing systems supplied to customers (e.g., AGC/AGV systems, Vision Systems, PLC Modifications, Control Panels).
- Preparing written reports, technical specifications, and material specifications for machine improvement, maintenance, and kaizen programs related to customer projects and facilities.
- Conducting operation, configuration, and maintenance training for customers on the systems mentioned above.
- Collaborating with supervisors, sales staff, and engineering and maintenance departments at customer sites to analyze and resolve problems.
- Evaluating and recommending changes to application issues, such as supplier issues and customer concerns.
- Implementing new technologies, cost-saving techniques, materials, and improved safety procedures.
The Controls Engineer will have the following:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering or a related field.
- 3-5 years of experience in control engineering, preferably in the factory automation or automotive industry.
- Strong knowledge and experience with PLCs, vision systems, motion control, industrial safety products, pneumatics, and overall factory automation equipment.
- Excellent teamwork, time management, communication, information gathering, and presentation skills.
- Positive attitude, respectful towards others, cooperative with the team, and customer-focused.
- Proficient in spoken and written English.
- Ability to travel between 20-30% to customer facilities as required.
- Physical ability to perform tasks such as sitting, using hands and fingers, standing, walking, reaching, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crawling, and lifting/carrying heavy objects. Close vision is also required.
