What Does a Stamping Press Operator Do?

As a stamping press operator, your job duties involve operating a machine that shapes metal or other materials. Your responsibilities include setting up the stamping press machine based on the information in a work order and performing quality checks during each production run to ensure that the stamping press is working based on the given designs. In addition to shaping material, you may undertake production runs that include using your equipment to emboss or imprint designs on a product.

How to Become a Stamping Press Operator

The qualifications that you need to become a stamping press operator include at least a high school diploma or GED certificate and relevant job experience. You may learn the necessary skills for this career through a vocational school certification program, an apprenticeship, or on-the-job training. This job also has physical demands, including the requirement that you can lift 50 pounds or more and work from a standing position for most or all of your shift.
