Client is the leading international provider of advanced solutions to the civil, geotechnical, and environmental construction markets. We deliver innovative, long-lasting, and environmentally friendly solutions, from retaining walls to hydraulic works and from rockfall mitigation systems to soil reinforcement and is seeking a full-time Geotechnical Engineer to support our Engineering Department. This individual will be responsible for supporting the engineering department by providing preliminary design, detailed design, and value engineering design proposals for the projects, and developing material quantity estimate. Our solutions include gravity retaining walls, MSE structures, soil stabilization, geo-hazard protection, stabilization of slopes, erosion protection and river training works. The candidate would be required to relocate to an area within a reasonable commute to the Maccaferri office in Hagerstown, MD.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Review project documents such as bid drawings and geotechnical investigation reports
  • Prepare preliminary design calculations and drawings and organize design proposals with limited supervision.
  • Coordinate project drawings with AutoCAD drafter.
  • Effectively communicate with internal and external project team members.
  • Manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Strive to become an Expert Resource through continuous development and experience related to our products, the industry we serve and associated trends.

Education and Qualifications:

  • US citizenship or already permitted to work in the US.
  • BS or MS degree in Civil, Geotechnical Engineering
  • 2 to 5 years’ experience in design of earth retaining structures or geostructural design.
  • EIT certification
  • Familiar with FHWA and AASHTO standards and processes for earth retaining structures.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD
  • Proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook
  • Strong work ethic and a desire for continual self-improvement
