A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A SENIOR GOVERNMENTAL AUDITOR

As an accounting professional at our CPA firm, you will play a key role in planning, overseeing and directing a compliant and accurate auditing process. You will communicate with clients including governmental entities, public housing authorities and not-for-profit organizations. You will perform a variety of complex tasks utilizing client records and other pertinent material. You will supervise the daily activities of the audit engagement. You will identify areas of risk in assigned engagements requiring additional attention. You will supervise and coach junior and staff auditors as well as review their work for accuracy and compliance. You will obtain sufficient relevant data to afford a reasonable basis for conclusions or recommendations in relation to all services provided to clients. You will ensure that the engagement has been properly planned, that documentation provides sufficient evidence, and that financial statements are free of material misstatements. You will make recommendations for improving internal controls. By effectively communicating with clients, you will facilitate the audit process and build strong client relationships. You will prepare written reports and make presentations. All your work will be accomplished while ensuring the confidentiality of our firm and clients.

 

QUALIFICATIONS FOR A SENIOR GOVERNMENTAL AUDITOR

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting
  • Working on or have completed requirements for CPA license
  • Preferably 3-5 years of experience in auditing
  • Understand principles, practices, methods and theories of auditing standards and accounting standards
  • Working knowledge of GASB, Yellow-Book and Uniform Guidance Standards a plus
  • Knowledgeable of laws, ordinances, regulations and statutes which govern audit functions
