Principal Tax Manager
About the Opportunity
Our client, an accounting advisory firm, is currently seeking a Principal Tax Manager in Rochester, New York to serve as a tax functional leader for compliance, advisory and annuity tax service delivery. In this supervisory role, you will focus on trusts and estates accounting and tax law issues. Our ideal candidate will be the primary technical advisor on firm trust and estate tax type matters including compliance, reporting, and transactions.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and review fiduciary income tax returns, gift tax returns, federal and state estate tax returns, and private foundation returns
- Compute and review commissions and calculate unitrust and annuity payments
- Trust and estate administration, including record keeping and monitoring filing deadlines
- Oversee the accounting aspects of a trust or estate intermediate or final settlement
- Review and/or prepare computations of trustee’s commissions in terminating trusts
- Participate in quality control reviews of documents being filed with a court or governmental agency
- Prepare annual guardianship accounting reports
- Train and educate staff members on various estate and trust topics
- Counsel and advise clients on estate planning
Required Education, Licenses and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Tax, Law or Economics
- License/Certification: CPA or EA
- Minimum of 10 years related experience in a tax organization or professional services
- Trust & Estate Taxation experience required
- Experience with CCH Tax Products preferred
