We are looking for an experienced Energy Management Professional to join our client’s team as an Energy Engineer. Our client, a consulting engineering firm, specializes in energy efficiency for existing facilities. Salary position located in Birmingham, AL. Relocation is available. Pay-$90-110k DOE. Excellent benefits, potential employee stock plan, 401k, etc.


Duties

This position performs a wide spectrum of energy engineering functions working on various energy management projects:

• Manage and execute retro-commissioning and new building commissioning projects, including developing commissioning

plans, reviewing designs and submittals and performing functional performance tests to prepare reports

• Identify and implement ECM recommendations and opportunities; calculate associated savings

• Assist with the development of Installation Energy and Water Plans (IEWP)

• Perform ASHRAE Levels I, II, and III audits

• Strategically plan infrastructure energy planning

Qualifications

• 4 year degree in engineering from an accredited institution

• EIT or ability to pass Professional Engineering (PE) test within one year

• Certified Energy Manager (CEM) certification (or ability to pass test post-hire)

• 4-8 years of experience in the energy field; participation in industrial assessment program

• Ability to travel (most travel is local) with anticipated 25% overnight

• Experienced in mechanical and electrical engineering and plumbing design

• Healthcare / pharmaceutical / industrial manufacturing experience a plus

• CxA, BCxA and LEED certifications a plus

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Understanding of commercial and industrial HVAC systems such as AHUs, VAV,s chiller plants, condenser water and boiler

plants

• Understanding of building commissioning processes with emphasis on HVAC, controls, building envelope and lighting

• Basic understanding of building automation systems and sequences of operations

• Proficient in data analytics and Microsoft Excel

• Ability to work both independently and in team environment

• Interpersonal and public verbal and written communications skills

• Familiarity with computer programming and construction documents

• Understanding of utility rate structures and energy modeling experience

• Project management experience
