Their eClinical SaaS product is very innovative as it simplifies and automates clinical processes for sponsors, CROs, and sites around the world. Our eClinical SaaS client delivers user-friendly document and trial management solutions to help pharmaceutical, biotechnology, medical device, and contract research organizations (CROs) effectively streamline product development life cycles. Their eClinical SaaS platform improves speed, quality, and compliance across site identification, site feasibility, study start-up, site personnel training, regulated content management, eISF, and eTMF management.

Job Description


The Mid-Senior DevOps Engineer at PhillyTech’s industry-leading eClinical SaaS client is responsible for providing cloud service development, implementation, architectural design, advanced troubleshooting, and management of the overall health of On Demand services. You will help in the design and implementation of our client’s next generation platform services.


This individual is required to demonstrate sound technical architectural leadership, playing a vital role in designing, enhancing, implementing and scaling our application platform. The candidate will also engage in capacity planning, demand forecasting, software performance analysis, and systems tuning. The candidate must enjoy working in a fast-paced, collaborative team environment.


Duties and Responsibilities


  • Design and help to manage services running in the Cloud; Provide experience-based guidance and implementation of Cloud Computing solutions, tools, architecture, and approaches.
  • Help to create documentation to support quality policy and processes. Review and approve all quality-related documentation for On-Demand hosting and Cloud deployment.
  • Optimize On-Demand infrastructure by recommending and performing upgrades, monitoring performance, and auditing system tasks.
  • Formulate deployment strategy and design documentation for new capabilities, enhanced functionality, and fixes.
  • Interact with other team members including Production Support, Engineering, Quality Assurance, and Product Management.
  • Provide leadership by mentoring other technical team members.
  • Meet and engage with vendors as required.
  • Advanced troubleshooting and monitoring of service systems to ensure adequate SLA, capacity management and expansion requirements.
  • Research hosting and deployment trends and identify opportunities for Trial Interactive to take advantage of such trends. 
  • Sponsor research projects and proof of concept development projects.
  • Test and validate solutions in lab environments.


Qualifications


  • Minimum 4 years experience as a contributing member of a DevOps team.
  • 2 years of systems engineering experience, holistic understanding of the Internet and hosting from the network layer up through the application layer; experience in a 24x7 hosting environment.
  • BA/BS degree (or equivalent) minimum (ideally, Computer Science or related field).
  • Familiarity with Amazon AWS, Rackspace Cloud, GCP, and other cloud offerings.
  • IaaS, PaaS, SaaS, Virtualization, Storage, and Server platforms; relevant practical work experience designing, building, and/or operating cloud environments.
  • Solid understanding of Software Development Life Cycle, Test Driven Development, Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery.
  • Strong belief in “Infrastructure as Code” – administering and operating systems through scripts, API’s, tooling, and automation.
  • Experience in deploying software to cloud computing infrastructure; Experience with monitoring tools, scripting, configuration management, clustering, and Internet security.


Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities


  • Knowledge of DevOps tools and software including AWS, OpenStack, CloudStack, Chef, Puppet, Ansible, Capistrano, Docker, Kubernetes, and Terraform.
  • DevOps-style Cloud Administration and Operations, including Security and Disaster Recovery.
  • Experience with web services, virtualization, cloud concepts, REST, JSON, XML, MySQL, PHP, LDAP, LAMP stack and object-oriented methodologies.
  • Web servers (Apache, IIS, nginx), load balancers (nginx, HAProxy and Varnish) and high availability systems.
  • SQL, NoSQL, memcached and other database technologies.
  • Programming ability in one or more of the following: Java, .NET/C#, Python, Ruby.
