Position:       Project Manager                                                          

Reports To:  Engineering & Tooling Manager

 

POSITION SUMMARY:

The objective of this position is to bring new design/products to Commercialization by: Aiding in the design/testing of product. Presenting ideas and concepts to upper management and customers. Conducting meetings that deal in commercialization of product. Oversee the commercialization team and keep the process moving to meet the goals of the project. Write procedures as needed to clarify a process. Travel to other countries as needed to startup and support production. Help the Materials group in finding and qualifying new sources for production. Work with Marketing and Engineering to set up training sessions for the Sales force. Plan and document all steps in the development process to assure process integrity and audit trail. Ensure Product deliverables are available in full, on time in quality at each validation. Work closely with product experts, program managers, product designers and industrialization team and customer throughout conception, development, and production. Lead or actively participate in product design reviews and FMEA’s. Apply intellectual Property management checklist and process.

 

FUNCTIONS:

15%     Work with Sales/Marketing/customer.

25%     Work with other engineers on design of new products and special projects.

45%     Work on timelines, AFEs, and commercialization plans for commercialization of products.

15%     Work with other support departments for the design, build, and test of equipment needed to build the product both at the commercialization level and the design level.

 

Knowledge/Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or plastics technology.
  • Eight (8) years related experience and/or training.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Excellent oral communication skills.
  • Experience with CAE/CAD, Engineering Drawing, and Project Management. CAD or Solid works
  • Strong communication skills
  • Qualification in project management or equivalent preferred
  • Knowledge of project management techniques and tools
  • Direct work experience in project management capacity
  • Ability to interact with all levels of the organization.
  • Proficient in Word, PowerPoint and Excel including pivot tables, vlookups and charts and graph
  • Ability to travel internationally is a requirement of the position.


Problem Solving:

This position is responsible for decisions made on supplier and locations to manufacture new products. Must follow the laws of physics in fluids dynamics, pneumatics, and hydraulics. Work with the laws of electricity, mechanical design fits and functions, standard drafting practices, and general accounting practices for ROI and AFE funding. This position works on special projects as determined by upper management.
