Director of Operations


For a company that develops high speed packaging machinery for the consumer product industries. They offer the unique opportunity for engineers to create solutions and see the results of their work in operation within a few months. Engineers will interface with all aspects of engineering, design, testing, customer service, and in field trouble shooting.


Position Responsibilities:


  • Member of the senior leadership team
  • Operational Leadership: Provide strategic leadership and direction to the manufacturing team including Production Supervisor, Procurement, Machine shop, Assembly, Shipping and Receiving departments, and Building maintenance.
  • Process Optimization: Continuously evaluate and enhance manufacturing processes to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and increase output while maintaining the highest quality standards.
  • Resource Management: Manage production schedules, manpower, equipment, and materials to meet production goals and on time deliveries.
  • Quality Assurance: Implement and maintain strict quality control measures to ensure that products meet or exceed industry standards and customer expectations.
  • Health and Safety: Champion a culture of safety by promoting and enforcing safety policies, procedures, and best practices.
  • Supply Chain Management: Collaborate with the supply chain team to optimize inventory levels, vendor relationships, and procurement processes.
  • Cost Management: Monitor and control operational expenses to meet budgetary targets without compromising quality or safety.
  • Continuous Improvement: Lead and support continuous improvement initiatives, such as Lean Six Sigma, to drive operational excellence and drive cost reductions.
  • Team Development: Foster a culture of learning and development by coaching and mentoring team members, identifying training needs, and promoting professional growth.
  • Reporting and Analysis: Prepare regular operational reports, KPIs, and performance metrics for senior management, and use data-driven insights to make informed decisions.


Director of Operations Skills and Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, or a related field; MBA or advanced degree is a plus.
  • Proven experience in a senior operations leadership role within a manufacturing environment, preferably in the capital equipment or machinery industry.
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, quality management systems, and supply chain management.
  • Excellent leadership, team building, and communication skills.
  • Experience with lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Proficiency in using ERP systems and other manufacturing software.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Commitment to safety and quality.
