Our client, a Cleveland-area manufacturing company, is looking for a Controller to provide strategic, operational, and day-to-day leadership to the accounting function while also providing top management with financial reports to facilitate proper decision-making in all areas of the business.    



Role and Responsibilities   

         

·      Responsible for establishing, coordinating, and maintaining sound accounting practices and procedures for the company. 

·      Supervises general accounting, cost accounting, payroll, accounts payable, and accounts receivable functions for the company. 

·      Provide monthly financial and operational reporting to top management as assigned and suggest areas of improvement in the operations to better the company.

·      Establishes internal controls and guidelines for accounting transactions and budget preparation.

·      Oversees preparation of business activity reports, financial forecasts, and annual budgets.

·      Administer the production of periodic financial reports; ensure that the reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles or financial reporting standards.

·      Responsible for tax planning throughout the fiscal year; files annual corporate tax return.

·      Supervises accounting systems and vendor functions.

·      Audits accounts to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations; coordinates with outside auditors and provides needed information for the annual external audit.

·      Presents recommendations to management on short- and long-term financial objectives and policies.

·      Provides financial analysis with an emphasis on capital investments, pricing decisions, and contract negotiations.

·      Performs other related duties as necessary or assigned.



Qualifications and Education Requirements


·      Bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance or related field required.

·      Minimum of five years of accounting experience in a manufacturing environment.  

·      Incumbent must have strong computer skills, including Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office applications.

·      Must be able to establish and maintain a strong rapport and positive relationships with all levels of staff. 

·      Must be strategic in his/her orientation, proactive, persistent, and able to handle multiple projects and customers simultaneously, as well as work within a very fast-paced, team environment.

·      Proven working experience in the accounting field.

·      Ability to manipulate large amounts of data.

·      Proven knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting principles, practices, standards, laws, and regulations

·      High attention to detail and accuracy.
