Position: Sanitation Supervisor

Shift: Day Shift - primarily Monday-Friday, 6:00 AM - 3:00 PM - occasional flexibility needed for overtime

Compensation: $68-75k base salary DOE, overtime pay, bonus opportunity

Location: Memphis, TN (South Memphis area)


A leading global food manufacturer, rapidly expanding, is in search of an experienced Sanitation Supervisor to join its team. The role focuses on managing the Sanitation Team in a fast-paced 24-hour, 7-day-a-week manufacturing environment.


Role Overview:

The Sanitation Supervisor is responsible for the daily operations of the Sanitation Department, ensuring that all cleaning requirements meet or exceed established standards. The role involves active leadership of sanitation programs, training production operators and technicians, and serving as a technical liaison between sanitation and other departments.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Actively lead sanitation processes to ensure all cleaning requirements meet or exceed established standards.
  • Train and engage production operators and technicians to ensure sanitation compliance and continuous improvement.
  • Serve as a technical liaison between sanitation and other departments.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain Master Sanitation Schedule (MSS) and Master Cleaning Schedule (MSCS), including documentation and verification.
  • Manage daily, weekly, monthly, and shutdown sanitation activities.
  • Lead the Sanitation Team to achieve daily goals and provide regular feedback. Manage staff including hiring, discipline, payroll, performance appraisals, scheduling, and training.
  • Conduct routine facility inspections related to pest control and other food safety aspects. Summarize, report, and address findings.
  • Collaborate with the Quality Team on internal audit and inspection programs.
  • Lead the Sanitation department in the absence of the QA Manager.
  • Implement and maintain a vendor-managed cleaning supply program.
  • Review, prepare, and implement technical documents, methods, procedures, and work instructions.
  • Participate in and lead problem-solving teams, conduct root cause analysis, and implement corrective and preventative actions.
  • Oversee the Pest Management system, including vendor contact and application of restricted-use fumigants and pesticides. Manage PPE and monitoring devices for fumigants.
  • Perform activities typical of a Certified Applicator when needed, such as fumigation and pesticide applications.
  • Create, issue, and revise documentation related to pest control activities and track information in electronic databases like Excel.
  • Schedule and conduct training for Certified Applicators, Fumigation Helpers, and other employees on safety, food safety, and pest identification.
  • Make recommendations to Plant Management for pest control issues and program improvements.


Education:

  • College degree preferred (BS in Food Science, Biology, Chemistry).
  • High school diploma/GED required, with equivalent related experience.


Experience:

  • 5 years of sanitation experience in the food industry, with at least two years of supervisory experience required.
  • Tennessee Licensed Pest Control Operator - C07, FUM preferred.
