IHC Manager (Healthcare Sciences) 

Job Description  

Title: IHC Manager 

Shift: Monday-Friday Day Shift 

Location: Just East of Manhattan New York, NY 

Job responsibilities  

Looking for a highly motivated IHC Supervisor to join our fast-growing team. With the support of the Director of Laboratory Operations, the IHC Supervisor will oversee IHC operations and effectively apply working knowledge and skills to train staff and take the department to the next level. 

Additional responsibilities of the IHC Manager include: 

• Oversee and train in “routine” preventive maintenance procedures. 
• Perform antibody and equipment validations 
• Operation of automated IHC stainer and coverslipper(s) 
• Troubleshoot quality issues 
• Create and/or monitor essential documents through the daily operation 
• Exchange instrument-specific reagents at designated intervals 
• Timely completion of instrument-specific QC documentation when applicable 
• Proper handling and disposal of chemical waste 
• Immediate notification to supervisory personnel of malfunctioning instrumentation 
• QC/QA of all antibodies 
• Immediate notification of existing and/or potential problems to the proper authority 
• Maintain accurate work records (i.e., Maintenance Logs, Temperature Logs, etc.) 
• Evaluate new equipment and procedures 
• Develop and implement SOPs and protocols for IHC testing 
• Review slides for overall quality of preparation such as staining intensity, proper cover slipping and stain artifacts. 

IHC Manager (Healthcare Sciences) 

Job Requirements 

Successful candidates for IHC Manager role include: 

• Bachelor's degree in science 
• 4+ years of experience supervising or leading a team as team leader 
• 5+ years of experience in a laboratory setting including Immunohistochemistry (IHC) 
• Strong technical knowledge and a deep understanding of the theory of IHC techniques and procedures 
• NY State license (Not Required) 
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
