Job Description 

Provides accurate and timely laboratory information based on the performance of analytical tests on human body substances. Correlates and interprets test data. This is done to detect evidence of or prevent disease or impairment and to promote and monitor good health. Monitors quality assurance and maintains laboratory instrumentation including all documentation. Follows established guidelines and protocols to provide requested clinical information to Physicians, nurses, and other relevant health care personnel. Orients and trains new employees

Job Responsibilities 

Position Title: Medical Laboratory Technician 

Shifts Available: Night Shift (3/12 hour shifts in the lab every Saturday, Sunday and Monday night) 

Location: Albany, GA 

Skills and abilities of a Medical Laboratory Technician include: 

  • Adheres to the hospital and departmental attendance and punctuality guidelines 
  • Performs all job responsibilities in alignment with the core values, mission and vision of the organization 
  • Performs other duties as required and completes all job functions as per departmental policies and procedures 
  • Maintains current knowledge in present areas of responsibility (i.e., self education, attends ongoing educational programs) 
  • Attends staff meetings and completes mandatory in-services and requirements and competency evaluations on time. 
  • Demonstrates competency at all levels in providing care to all patients based on age, sex, weight, and demonstrated needs. For non-clinical areas, has attended training and demonstrates usage of age- specific customer service skills. 
  • Wears protective clothing and equipment as appropriate. 

Medical Laboratory Technician (Healthcare Sciences) 

Job Requirements 

Successful candidates for the Medical Laboratory Scientist/Medical Laboratory Technician: 

  • 2 year / Associate Degree in Allied Health (Required) 
  • 0 - 1 year Ability to perform in one or more laboratory departments as a generalist. (Required)  
  • Required Certifications/Licensures:ASCP preferred - certification by ASCP, AMT, NCA, AAB, or other agency approved by state of Georgia OR Completion of such certification within the requirements of Rules and Regulations of Clinical Laboratories, not to exceed 18 months.
