Job Title: MOHS Histotech – Temporary  

  

Location: North Texas Area 

 

Length of Assignment: 6 weeks (10.18 - 12.01)

Job Summary: This position will support multiple areas of the lab, in our routine histology dermatology lab and potentially in our Mohs labs. 

Job Responsibilities Include:   

  • Processes, embeds, cuts and stains quality frozen tissue specimens. 
  • Follows all lab procedures in the preparation of tissue samples for pathological testing. 
  • Prepares histological samples, map, flatten, paraffin embeds samples, frozen section samples, sectioning, staining (routine and non-routine), and review samples while ensuring quality standards. 
  • Performs and documents tests in compliance with quality control procedures and established parameters and standards. 
  • Maintains appropriate quality controls, and ensures the department is operating in accordance with all standards set forth by OSHA, CLIA and other regulatory agencies. 
  • Maintains histology equipment in good working order and troubleshoots equipment problems. 
  • Works with the Mohs surgeon to resolve quality control, patient, or procedural problems. 
  • Orders supplies related to the defined area. 
  • Cross trains appropriate staff on job duties. 
  • Consistently follows policies, procedures, and protocols at Aspire Dermatology. 
  • Maintains an extremely high level of confidentiality and follows HIPAA guidelines. 
  • Performs other duties as assigned. 
  • Maintains yearly competencies. 

 

Requirements:   

 

Experience - Previous Mohs lab and grossing experience preferred. Minimum of 2+ years of experience in a laboratory setting or student of a histology program. Ability to multitask and autonomously operate if needed in a one-on-one setting with a Mohs surgeon professionally.
