Job Description 

 

Direct the operations of the Point of Care Testing program.  Manage team of supervisors who oversee all training of point of care testing and maintain and monitor point of care tests offered using regulatory guidelines. Work to oversee implementation of interfaces for point of care testing devices.

Job Responsibilities 

Position Title: Clinical Lab Technologist 

Shifts Available:  

  1. Monday – Friday, 8:30am to 5:00pm and will be on call on some weekends and will be on-call on a rotating schedule (2 opening positions) 
  2. Monday – Friday, 8:30am to 5:00pm and will be on call on some weekends and will be on-call on a rotating schedule and travel 

Location: Bronx, NY 

Skills and abilities of a Clinical Lab Technologist includes:  

  • Direct the daily operations of the Point of Care Testing program to achieve departmental and institutional goals for the provision of quality patient care 
  • Manage and oversee daily work of the Point of Care Supervisors.  Hire, train, evaluate, discipline and assess competency for supervisors 
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory agencies: CAP, JC and NYSDOH.  Develop and maintain quality control tools and establish criteria for licensing and performance testing 
  • Implement new tests, methods, instrumentation and procedures at various Point of Care testing locations 
  • Manage Point of Care Testing Program budget and oversee use of supplies and other resources 
  • Develop and implement training programs for each Point of Care test.  Document and track personnel training and certification 
  • Coordinate to address technical issues related to Point of Care instruments and/or test performance 
  • Serve as liaison on departmental and institutional committees 
  • Utilize knowledge of age differences or population characteristics in providing services to specific individuals 

 

Clinical Lab Technologist (Healthcare Sciences) 

Job Requirements 

Successful candidates for the Clinical Lab Technologist: 

  • Bachelor's Degree required; Master's Degree preferred 
  • Medical Technology training required 
  • NYS Laboratory technologist license 
  • Point of Care Testing instruments required 
  • Knowledge of laboratory information systems required 
  • Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) required 
  • Knowledge of processes, policies and procedures of Pathology Department and Medical Center 
  • Knowledge of NYS DOH, College of American Pathologist and Joint Commission standards of practice
