Job Description 

  

Job Title: Cytology Technician (Team Lead) – Full Time – Day Shift 

  

Location: Albany, GA 

 

Job Summary: Works closely with and is directly responsible for pathologists in preparing and interpreting pap smears and body fluid specimens. Trains and supervises staff assigned to cytology area in these procedures. Participates in EBUS procedures as necessary to obtain proper specimens and provide adequate result turnaround time to the Physician. Responsible for management of Cytology to include regulatory compliance and budget. Maintains certification accreditation activities required by accrediting agencies and the state and federal government.

Job Responsibilities Include:  

  • Adheres to the hospital and departmental attendance and punctuality guidelines.  
  • Performs all job responsibilities in alignment with the core values, mission and vision of the procedures.  
  • Maintains current knowledge in present areas of responsibilities (i.e., self-education, attends ongoing educational programs) 
  • Attends staff meetings and completes mandatory in-services and requirements and competency evaluations on time.  
  • Demonstrates competency at all levels in providing care to all patients based on the age, sex, weight, and demonstrated needs. For non-clinical areas, has attended training and demonstrates usage of age-specific customer service skills. 
  • Wear protective clothing and equipment as appropriate.  

 

Requirements:   

 

Education – 4-year / Bachelor's Degree in Cytology (Required) 

 

Experience – 2-3 years Cytology (Required)  


Licensure/Registry – Cytotechnologist (CT-ASCP) 

 

General Skills – Organizational Skills. Communication Skills. Interpersonal Skills. Customer Relations. Analytical. Grammar/spelling. Read/comprehend written instructions. Follow verbal instructions. Microsoft office suite.  

Physical Requirements – Have near normal vision - Clarity of vision (both near and far), ability to distinguish colors. Have good-manual dexterity and eye-hand-foot coordination. Ability to perform – repetitive tasks/motion.
