Histology Technician (Healthcare Sciences)
Job Description
Title: Histology Technician
Shift: Monday-Friday, 3:00 am to 11:00 am
Location: Tallahassee, FL
Job responsibilities
Histology Technician is working with clinical specimens. Under the general direction and supervision of the Laboratory Manager, the Histology Technician will apply a working knowledge of Histotechnician-related duties and tasks to complete the daily assigned Histology workload.
Additional responsibilities of the Histology Technician include:
- Perform routine and special histological procedures involving specimen accessioning, grossing, processing, embedding, sectioning, staining (routine and special).
- Follow strict SOP and complete required job-related training as necessary.
- Maintain accurate records of all specimens worked with.
- Documentation of all work progress in our Laboratory Information Systems
- Design and recommend processes, systems, and operational changes to increase efficiency and effectiveness
Histology Technician (Healthcare Sciences)
Job Requirements
Successful candidates for Histology Technician role include:
- ASCP preferred (required if not Florida Clinical Histology licensed yet)
- FL Clinical Histology license eligibility required (if you have your ASCP you are eligible for this license)
- Microtomy/Embedding experience is required
