Job Description
Title: Histology Manager
Shift: Day Shift Monday-Friday
Location: Just East of Manhattan, NY
Job responsibilities
Histology Manager with extensive experience in research specimens to join the team, in a full-time capacity. Under the general direction of the Director of Laboratory Operations, the Histology Manager will apply a working knowledge of Histotechnician-related duties and management experience to lead the team.
Additional responsibilities of the Histology Manager include:
- Manage attendance, quality, and standards of the Histology Lab by developing and implementing effective management strategies
- Monitor the workflow and adjusts lab policies and procedures as needed to ensure optimal performance
- Propose any staffing needs and participate in the recruitment process, ensuring the laboratory runs efficiently and effectively
- oversee instruments/equipment and supplies needed to ensure the lab runs smoothly
- Troubleshoot technical, equipment, and computer-related issues
- Serves as the primary point of contact with clients to provide information and take requests for services
- Establishes laboratory procedures, creates and manages laboratory-related documentation, and organizes laboratory activities, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations
- Maintain an in-depth knowledge of regulatory requirements specific to the laboratory and ensures all users are in compliance with those standards
- Update and maintain the Lab Safety Plan/Manual, identifying and addressing potential safety hazards to maintain a safe working environment
- Anticipate potential problems and help staff to resolve them as they occur, minimizing downtime and ensuring that the laboratory stays on schedule
- Ensures laboratory users have received the appropriate training on correctly using laboratory equipment
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the histology laboratory, including receiving, grossing, processing, embedding, sectioning, staining, and scanning
- Produce, monitor, and maintain productivity, quality, and TAT metrics
- Troubleshoot technical, equipment, and software
- Manage the PTO schedule and oversee time management
- Write and update SOP Annually

Job Requirements
Successful candidates for Histology Manager role include:
- Bachelor’s degree in biological sciences or a related subject plus at least two years of technical experience in a histology laboratory
- Two years supervisory experience required, demonstrating a high level of technical knowledge and expertise or experience as Team Leader
- Flexible work schedule and ability to work a late / weekend shift preferred
- Must be detail-oriented, careful and have high integrity and discipline
- Excellent communication skills and work well in a team environment
- NY State License (Not Required)
