California Federal Sector business development lead.

Our client is seeking an experienced business development and marketing lead for our California area. The primary focus of the position is to obtain additional revenue from the Federal Sector clients. Emphasis is the Los Angeles, Sacramento, and San Francisco area, but includes all offices within our client’s region. The work includes continuing to win work from our existing clients; expanding the range of services we provide to existing clients; and identifying and marketing new clientele. May be a full- or part-time position.

Responsibilities include the following:

·      Identify upcoming opportunities through GovWin and SAM, as well as through SAME, Agencies and other networking sources. Focus on areas where we have a geographic presence and/or have the services and experience specified. Distribute these opportunities to the appropriate offices, project manager leads, and the corporate and office marketing personnel.

·      Maintain a list of firms that pursue Federal projects and would have an interest in teaming with us. Distribute the identified opportunities to these firms requesting teaming. Primarily responsible for getting us on teams pursuing opportunities within California.

·      Develop networking relationships with other consultants pursuing federal work. Includes calls, lunches, and meetings at conferences. Maintain contact with the primary civilian design leads for USACE District offices, NAVFAC, and USCG. Work with marketing personnel to update brochures showing our experience with these agencies.

·      Keep abreast of all our current Federal contracts. Know when they will expire, and track revenue generated from these contracts. Several of the current contracts are MATOCs. Track tasks and generate appropriate marketing tools to assist teaming partners achieve award of the tasks.

·      Use the relationship developed with the current contracts to expand opportunities for our other offices.

·      Keep abreast of all services that the company offers and look for opportunities to share capabilities that exist in one office that others are not aware. Also talk with agencies to see if there is a market to expand our services to meet their needs, new opportunities.

·      Serve as our primary lead for California’s SAME participation. Encourage involvement from all offices. Prepare corporate budget for the company’s participation at National SAME events.

·      Coordinate with existing Federal marketing staff.

·      Stay in touch with our existing clients and agencies monitoring their level of satisfaction and provide a means for them to express any concerns. Step in to resolve issues as necessary. Provide feedback to our Project managers.

·      Stay informed regarding changes to Federal procurement or other regulations that could impact how we do business with agencies. Includes SB vs LB definitions, cyber security, FBO transition to SAM, etc.

 

Position Requirements

·      BS degree in engineering with at least 25 years of experience in the Federal Sector.

·      Ideally experience as a former USACE or similar agency employee, and a deep connection with the Federal marketplace, including knowledge of and relationships with both large and small A-E and Construction firms in the California marketplace.

·      A proven track record of generating business in the Federal marketplace is highly desirable.

·      Must have excellent writing, organizational, prioritization, accuracy, efficiency, attention to detail, and very strong communication, management, and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with clients, vendors, and staff at all levels.

·      Ability to multitask in a fast-paced atmosphere, with a good understanding of the time-critical nature of producing financial and other reports, and the importance of providing superior client service.

·      Prior people management experience.

·      Must be personable, flexible, and professional.

·      Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision.

·      Must have and maintain a valid driver license and insurable driving record.

·      Basic computer skills: MS Word, Excel, required; MS Access, desirable.

·      This position requires critical thinking and analysis; frequent sitting, standing, walking, bending, and lifting and carrying 30+ pounds; ability to travel (drive or fly) to other client offices, and to and from job sites locally and out of state.

·      Must follow client’s Quality Assurance policy.

·      Must follow and promote client’s health and safety and loss prevention procedures and policies.
