SURVEY PARTY CHIEF – LSIT

Klamath Falls, OR


SUMMARY:       

The Survey Party Chief will support public infrastructure projects (such as roads, bridges, water and wastewater systems, schools, and medical facilities) and private projects (including commercial, residential, and industrial development projects). They will work closely with the company’s Professional Land Surveyors. They will define scope and costs, plan and evaluate field survey projects, perform the surveys, manage survey teams, process and coordinate field design survey work, construction staking work, and other surveys.  They will estimate field and analysis hours needed, gather field survey data through use of conventional and GPS methods, use and maintain surveying equipment such as electronic total stations and GPS systems. They perform field surveys of roads, bridges, construction staking, intersections, rights-of-way, monuments, corners, boundaries, and property lines.


In the office the Survey Party Chief will process the field data that they or survey teams have acquired and develop that information into existing site conditions and topographic maps. They will research and calculate parcel boundaries, and develop parcel and record of survey maps, ALTA Surveys, corner records and other project data, as directed by the project Professional Land Surveyor managing the project. In addition, they will provide construction survey calculations and prepare reports for contractors. 

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES:

  • Prepare construction staking calculations by reading plans and interpreting CAD files.
  • Create mapping deliverables including boundary surveys, ALTA surveys, topographic surveys, plats, and legal descriptions.
  • Post processing field data collected via total station, GPS, levels, 3D laser scanners, and unmanned aerial systems.
  • Build 3D models of sites and structures for owners, architects, engineers, and contractors.
  • Oversee completion of survey projects for boundary, topographic, ALTA surveys, subdivisions, partitions, and property descriptions.
  • Research and develop work plans for survey projects.
  • Assist civil engineering department with scope and costs for survey-related tasks required for the development process.
  • Train and manage field and office staff for efficient completion of projects.
  • Participate in business development opportunities.
  • Ability and willingness to travel.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • B.S. degree from an accredited vocational school, college, or university; degree in Geomatics or Surveying preferred.
  • 3 years of survey experience and/or training.  
  • Experience as a Party Chief.
  • Previous work in a consulting environment preferred.

 

CERTIFICATES & LICENSES:

  • Land Surveyor-in-Training (LSIT) certificate preferred.
  • Authorization to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
  • Valid California Driver's license and satisfactory driving clearance.

 

SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Fluency in AutoCAD Civil 3D and Trimble software.

·        Proven ability to market services to professional services consulting firms and other clients.

·        Willingness to actively participate in local professional organizations and civic groups.

·        Ability and willingness to travel to other company offices and field sites, sometimes including overnight stays.

·        $25.00 to $32.00 per hour.

While performing the essential duties of this job, the employee works in an office setting, sitting at a computer terminal and exposed to moderate noise (such as, business office with computers, phone, and printers). Semi-frequent travel to client sites and other company offices and regions. Exposure to uneven terrain, weather, and mechanical equipment.
