Our client, a family owned & reputable Home Care agency, with multiple offices in Massachusetts, is seeking compassionate, competent & dependable Home Health Aides to support their continued growth. 



PRN, Part Time, & Full Time opportunities available immediately.



Education, Experience and Qualifications:

  • Successful completion of an approved Commonwealth of Massachusetts CNA/Home Health Aide training program in accordance with Federal Regulations. A current, valid certificate must be presented upon hire.
  • A Home Health Aide, certified in another state or territory of the United States, may be deemed to have completed a training program as required by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts provided the Home Health Care Agency has sufficient documentation in accordance with the ASAP's provider agreement.
  • Current CPR Certification preferred.
  • Exhibits maturity, flexibility and ability to plan and organize activities.
  • A current TB Test result presented upon hire and yearly thereafter.
  • Completed 15 hours of training related to the responsibilities of a HHA and the Mass Council's curriculum.
  • Must have a current, valid Massachusetts driver's license and reliable transportation with current auto/vehicle insurance.
  • Must  be able to read, write, and speak English.
  • Must be competent in the skills necessary to perform the job functions.


Work Environment:

Field work in client homes. Minimal office work is required.

  • Work is performed ethically with considerable independence in accordance with policies, procedures, federal and state standards and practices while observing client privacy and confidentiality.

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to walk, sit, stand, kneel and climb stairs.
  • Ability to bend, reach and stretch when needed.
  • Ability to drive to complete work assignments.
  • May require heavy lifting, extensive bending and standing,
  • Visual, hearing ability sufficient to comprehend, written/ verbal communication,

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

The essential functions of the HHA include, but are not limited to the following:

  • The HHA is expected to work cooperatively with the family member, the agency supervisor and any other individuals involved with the client.
  • The HHA does not act on advice from neighbors or distant relatives.
  • The work of the HHA is discussed only with those authorized persons responsible for the well-being of the client.
  • The HHA is expected to follow instructions, be conscientious and take pride in his/her work.
  • The HHA informs the Supervisor of unusual incidents or events of a significant change in the client's condition.
  • Assist clients in/out of bed.
  • Ambulate clients and uses safe transfers and techniques including the use of a Hoyer lift.
  • Toilet, assist clients with bed pans/ must empty all commodes.
  • Medication cueing and reminders, but cannot administer any medication.
  • Assist/perform client grooming. Nail cutting is not allowed, but filing nails is permitted.
  • Perform activities that support the skilled therapies as instructed, and routine care of prosthetic and orthotic devices.
  • Provide adequate nutrition and fluid intake.
  • Perform bathing/showering/sponge bathing.
  • Shampoo/hair combing.
  • Oral hygiene/denture care.
  • Dressing/undressing
  • HHA's can only shave with electric shavers and must empty contents and clean the shaver when finished.
  • Foot care/ HHA's DO NOT cut toe nails or fingernails.
  • Under NO circumstance are clients allowed in a HHA's car
  • Perform normal household services essential to health care at home, including shopping, meal preparation, laundry and housekeeping duties.
  • Maintain a clean, safe and healthy environment
  • Record ADL activities of the client and the client care provided on the HHA activity sheet.
  • Report any changes in the client's condition to the primary care nurse or supervisor.
  • Must attend and complete in-service education programs as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or requested.
