A Houston-based, publicly traded healthcare firm is seeking a Corporate Controller with a CPA.


This position will be responsible for coordinating, administering, and controlling financial operations for multiple hospital facilities and other health entities. This role will review, analyze, and interpret financial and budgetary reports plus direct all aspects of accounting operations and the preparation of annual financial forecasts. They will be responsible for Overseeing the development of financial accounting systems required to maintain public company reporting requirements and providing tax, insurance, and other reports required by governmental regulations.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Managing a team of 4 that is responsible for all accounting functions including, but not limited to, General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Billing, and Intercompany transactions.
  • Maintaining the company’s financial structure and coordinating the Company’s relationships and covenants with financial institutions, suppliers, and government agencies
  • Preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and analyzing the financial results.
  • Establishing and maintaining the Company’s financial policies and procedures by providing operational administrative direction to the accounting, budgeting, tax, and insurance functions
  • Reviewing working capital on a regular basis and monitoring the company’s cash flow
  • Overseeing and coordinating the financial planning, forecasting, and budgeting process
  • Directing and coordinating the Company’s annual year-end audit with the independent auditors
  • Managing the Company’s business insurance policies


Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)

  • Minimum of 10 years of accounting experience
  • Minimum of 3 years in a managerial role in a public accounting role with multiple entity/locations.
  • 3-5 yrs. Healthcare Experience is Required but negotiable based on prior experience.
  • BA/BS in accounting and CPA is required and an MBA is a plus
  • Strong knowledge of Account Reconciliation, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Payroll Processes, etc.
  • Technical and comprehensive knowledge of all finance, financial planning, accounting, and tax areas of a business including an excellent understanding of GAAP
  • Excellent computer skills including all MS Office applications. (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) required
  • SEC Reporting experience a plus
  • Must be efficient with strong attention to detail.
  • Must have strong customer support orientation (for internal/external customers), demonstrated professional demeanor, and the ability to maintain confidential information.
  • Must have strong skills in organization and planning, demonstrated ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment and problem-solving
