Job Summary:

The Medical Billing & Coding Specialist will perform all revenue cycle management aspects of the medical practice. 

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Prepare charge data for insurance billing
• Post insurance and patient payments/prepare deposits
• Handle and/or supervise all collections following policies and procedures consistent with CCI and HIPAA guidelines
• Prepare appeals to insurance carriers
• Prepare financial, billing, insurance, and aging reports

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to deal professionally, courteously, and efficiently
• Knowledge of HIPAA and requirements regarding PHI
• Must be able to type at least 55-60 wpm and use a 10-key calculator
• Ability to research and analyze data, draw conclusions, and resolve issues; read, interpret, and apply policies, procedures, laws, and regulations
• Ability to read and interpret medical procedures and terminology
• Bilingual preferred (English/Spanish)

Education and Experience:

• High school graduate or equivalent
• Must have at least two years of medical billing and coding experience
• CPC coding certification preferred

Physical Requirements:

• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
• Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times
