Summary

The position of Safety Manager will be responsible for assisting with various safety, and security related programs in order to ensure compliance with internal and external requirements at our client's national distribution centers.


Roles and Responsibilities

  • Direct responsibility for Safety related programs that ensure compliance with internal and external policies, requirements, and regulations. Primary Safety representative internally and externally.
  • Strong knowledge in CTPAT regulations, guidelines, and requirements.
  • Review and ensure compliance with federal, state, local, DOT, OSHA, EPA regulatory agencies.
  • Monitor FMCSA operating authority status, hazardous material 232 compliance, and any and all other operating authorities as required.
  • Conduct facility and field audits to review OSHA, EPA, DOT and other regulatory needs for compliance.
  • Submit recommendations and an action plan to leadership following the abovementioned audits
  • Investigate accidents, injuries, and related workplace incidents to perform root cause analysis, and review patterns of frequency with similar incidents and develop strategies for improvement.
  • Spearhead and maintain OSHA10/30 training with relevant associates and work personnel
  • Manage and provides direction to the Safety department to ensure continuous crosstraining and knowledge development throughout the department.
  • Develop a cohesive and collaborative Safety team including planning, establishing, priorities and expectations.
  • Ensure performance, discipline, compensation, training, are consistently applied across the department.
  • Work closely and align with Logistics Operations and Procurement personnel to accomplish related projects.
  • Develop and provide regular reporting on all safety related metrics, accidents, and other needs as required weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annually.
  • Work closely with Logistics Operations/Procurement to ensure lines of communication are open.
  • Exercise authority in event of natural disasters, emergencies, or events that impact workplace operations and safety
  • Ad hoc safety/security related projects


Job Specifications

  • Preferred Bachelor’s degree in Transportation, Logistics, Safety Management or related field.
  • Minimum of 2+ years’ experience in a Safety position.
  • Knowledge of OSHA, EPA, DOT standards with prior experience strongly preferred.
