Business Manager

 

Job Overview:

The Business Manager will lead and oversee daily operations and motivate employees at all levels. Their role will foster a growth-oriented, positive, and encouraging environment while holding staff and management accountable to company policies, procedures, and values. The role also includes helping to build a strong team to assist in accomplishing the following responsibilities, which include, but are not limited to:

 

Responsibilities and Duties:

●       Create, maintain, manage, and optimize internal systems and processes.

●       Lead and oversee the daily activities of the company’s purchasing, finance, accounting, human resources, and IT group.

●       Oversee and manage the support service consultants.

●       Train and supervise office staff, ensure tasks are assigned and completed, evaluate performance, recommend hiring, and handle discipline and other related matters for interns and current or newly hired staff.

●       Assist with internal communications for associates and provide leadership across multiple platforms, interfaces, and programs.

●       Strategize, plan, delegate responsibilities appropriately and manage time and resources effectively.

●       Maintain all company licenses, certifications, and prequalification statuses.

●       Serve as a representative on department team building and peer recognition activities.

●       Liaise with the president to decide operational activities and set strategic goals.

●       Plan and monitor the day-to-day running of the business to ensure smooth progress.

●       Supervise staff from different departments and provide constructive feedback.

●       Regularly evaluate the efficiency of business procedures according to organizational objectives and apply improvements.

●       Manage procurement processes and coordinate material and resource allocation.

●       Review financial information and adjust operational budgets to promote profitability.

●       Revise and formulate policies and promote implementation.

●       Manage relationships/agreements with external partners/vendors.

●       Evaluate overall performance by gathering, analyzing, and interpreting data and metrics.

●       Ensure that the company runs in legal compliance and conforms to established regulations.

●       Other Responsibilities and Duties as directed.

 

Required Technical and Functional Skills:

●       Able to self-direct and perform operation tasks.

●       In-depth knowledge of diverse business functions and principles (e.g., supply chain, finance, customer service).

●       Working knowledge of data analysis and performance/operation metrics.

●       Ethically and morally centered and able to uphold company values.

●       Valid driver’s license and car insurance in state of residence.

●       Strong analytical skills.

●       Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

●       Able to learn organizational structure and the objectives of each team.

●       Outstanding organizational and prioritization skills. Able to handle multiple assignments at any given time while maintaining a commitment to deadlines and efficiently using time.

●       Able to communicate with various constituent groups (e.g., senior management, peers, and outside contacts).

●       Able to keep up with rapidly changing technology.

●       Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills

●       Treat people with respect, keep commitments, inspire the trust of others, and work with integrity.

●       Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness, seeks ways to improve and promote quality, apply feedback.

●       Proactive and detail-oriented, working with a sense of urgency.

●       Positive and client-focused, with a take-charge mentality.

●       Self-motivated, able to take initiative with tasks and projects while monitoring own work to ensure quality.

●       Proficient with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams) and Adobe to create documents, graphs, tables, and presentations.

●       Able to learn new tasks and software quickly.

●       Minimum of five years head of operations experience

●       Ability to work a flexible schedule (Monday-Friday)

 

Desired Qualifications:

●       A BSc/BA in business administration or a relevant field, as well as an MSc or MBA, would be a plus.

●       Proven experience and results as a Business Manager or equivalent position

●       Excellent organizational and leadership track record

●       Outstanding communication and people skills.

●       Knowledge of the industry's legal rules and guidelines

●       Willingness to occasionally shift regular hours to accommodate special events

●       Experience in the engineering or architectural consulting industry.

●       Experience with Google Workspace Products.

●       Experience with QuickBooks Online.

●       Experience with Trello.
