Our client is an early-stage venture capital firm that invests in technology companies. They focus on the pre-seed stage or the invention phase of a tech startup and invest a large check, up to $2M to support the company, pre-everything. They were founded in 2016, and today we manage $300M+ in AUM across three funds. Our portfolio companies have gone on to raise over $2B after us for a collective market cap of $11B.


Our client believes that even before a company is established or a business model takes shape, there exists a product founder who leads with their product vision. These products are often in their early stage, occasionally mere conceptual ideas that demand significant imagination. They may lack traction and obvious market viability. However, they originate from founders who possess unconventional insights and unwavering ambitions.


The establishment of the company was driven by the desire to exclusively support these founders during their pre-seed stage, right from the very beginning of their entrepreneurial journey. They bring to the table 16 years of product experience and 7 years of institutional investment expertise.


The Role


Our client is seeking a skilled and experienced GTM (Go-To-Market) Advisor to join our team. The primary goal of this role is to provide hands-on guidance and strategic expertise to our portfolio companies in developing and executing effective GTM strategies. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of market dynamics, customer behavior, and sales methodologies, along with a proven track record of driving successful go-to-market initiatives.


Responsibilities


  • Serve as a dedicated GTM advisor, offering expertise and guidance across the entire portfolio, to address GTM-related challenges.
  • Provide hands-on assistance and strategic direction to portfolio companies in building their GTM frameworks from the ground up, leveraging your sales experience to drive tangible results.
  • Implement effective sales playbooks tailored to each startup's unique needs and objectives.
  • Take a proactive approach to sales outreach, leveraging LinkedIn and other platforms to connect portfolio leaders with potential customers, partners, and industry experts.
  • Assist in structuring sales teams, defining roles and responsibilities, and hiring initiatives.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in GTM, sharing relevant insights and knowledge with founders to inform their decision-making and drive continuous improvement.
  • Create educational resources and opportunities for portfolio company leaders including webinars, workshops or creative initiatives to streamline the advising process.



Is this you?


  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a GTM or sales leadership role, preferably within the technology sector.
  • Proven track record of 0 to 1 development and execution of successful go-to-market strategies, driving revenue growth, and achieving measurable results.
  • Deep understanding of market dynamics, customer behavior, and sales methodologies.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a data-driven approach to decision-making.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and adapt to a fast-paced, dynamic startup environment.
  • Experience as a founding AE is a plus!
