Senior Cultivation Manager - 1943513

White Ash Group is currently recruiting a Senior Cultivation Manager on behalf of a publicly traded, fully licensed producer of Cannabis, to lead their cannabis greenhouse operations.

 

This role will focus on production, infrastructure, implementing strategies that align with the business, team management and the constant pursuit of growth and improvement.

 

Working with: Senior Manager of Greenhouse, and C-Suite

Managing: Team of 12 full time, and 50+ temp staff

 

Responsibilities:

•      Focus on, and document, consistent implementation of our processes from clone to harvest.

•      Work with our engineering and maintenance teams to ensure infrastructure is healthy and functioning as needed.

•      Execute the nutrition, irrigation and IPM programs and react appropriately to information as it comes available throughout a crop.

•      Regularly assess plant health, implement preventative measures, and troubleshoot issues as they arise.

•      Utilize expert knowledge to optimize greenhouse growing conditions, including monitoring and sharing information on environmental factors such as lighting, temperature, and humidity impacts

•      Optimize cannabis plant health and productivity by focusing on effective crop work strategies from clonal propogation through vegetative growth and flower development 

Design, implement and optimize effective strategies for crop production with an attention to detail and a commitment to flower quality.

Cultivation Leadership:

•      Working with the Cultivation Labour Manager to develop and implement cultivation schedules to efficiently utilize team hours and optimize plant growth cycles.

•      Collaborate with the strategy and crop science team to create and optimize innovative and efficient growing techniques.

•      Control changes through careful trialing and present opportunities to leadership to improve yield and quality and/or reduce cost.

Team Management:

•      Work closely with the Cultivation Labour Manager to structure teams and create a culture of accountability and ownership within each compartment of the greenhouse.

•      Oversee a diverse team of 40+ individuals, including Managers, Supervisors, Team Leads, Technicians, and Operators.

•      Provide leadership, mentorship, and training to foster professional development among team members.

•      Implement effective communication strategies to ensure seamless collaboration across departments.

•      Recruit, onboard and performance manage team members.

Continuous Improvement:

•      Regularly review and analyze production metrics to identify areas for improvement and increased efficiency.

•      Collaborate with the Operations and Research teams to implement new technologies and methodologies to enhance production outcomes.

•      Stay abreast of industry trends, advancements, and regulatory changes to ensure compliance and maintain a competitive edge.

Qualifications:

•      4+ years of Cultivation leadership experience within a company

•      Proven experience in managing large-scale greenhouse cultivation operations, with a focus on greenhouse environment control.

•      In-depth knowledge of cannabis cultivation techniques, plant biology, and greenhouse technologies.

•      Bachelor's degree in Horticulture, Agriculture, or related field. Advanced degree preferred.

•      Good attitude

•      Strong leadership and team management skills with the ability to inspire and motivate a diverse workforce.

•      Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities, especially in high-pressure situations.

•      Familiarity with Canadian cannabis regulations and compliance standards.

•      Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

•      Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment

•      Ability to leave your ego at the door, and work in strong collaboration with our existing team and the historic knowledge already in place.
