The Dahill Group is delighted to be assisting our client, an established and well-respected Texas E&P company in search for an outstanding Payroll & Benefits Specialist. This position is responsible for directing and planning the day-to-day accounting of payroll and group benefits programs (group health, dental, vision, life insurance, 401(k) plan, deferred compensation and retirement plan). The Specialist is responsible for monitoring all tasks necessary to accomplish the organization’s payroll processing objectives, including relationships with external auditors and state and federal agencies. A commitment to confidentiality and accuracy is required to protect employee data and ensure timely and accurate employee compensation. This position requires an extremely detail orientated person with significant knowledge of payroll and benefit administration, including state and federal regulations. 

 

The client’s headquarters is in Longview, Texas.  Hybrid or Remote position (if successful candidate lives outside of 40 miles from office – see below for more details).

 

Duties & Responsibilities:

 

Benefit Accountant

  • Prepares bank reconciliations, financial review and tax workpapers for EBS (self-funded insurance entity).
  • Prepare all data for annual ACA 1094 & 1095 filings, PCORF fee calculation and related tax return.
  • Prepare and file 941 / W2s / 1099s for retirees and owners.
  • Review 5500s for EBS, 401k and pension.

 

Payroll

  • Analyzes, prepares and inputs payroll data. Ensures compliance with all applicable state and federal wage and hour laws.
  • Prepares weekly, monthly, quarterly and year-end reports (gross payroll, hours worked, , tax deductions, benefit deductions, etc.).
  • Coordinate daily benefits processing. Handle enrollments, COBRA, terminations, changes, beneficiaries, disability, accident and death claims, rollovers, QDROs, and compliance testing. Oversee maintenance of employee benefits files, maintain group benefits database and update employee payroll records.
  • Gather employee data and oversee the processing of monthly billings.

 

Human Resource Support

  • Provide customer service support to owners and their immediate family members enrolled in the company’s benefit programs.

  • Ability to multitask

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting
  • Strong knowledge of benefits and payroll rules and regulations
  • Oil and gas experience a plus


 

Salary & Benefits

 

Target Base Salary:  $60,000 to $70,000

Target Bonus:  5% of Base salary

Work Schedule:   2 days remote/3 day in office OR remote within the state of Texas ONLY with 3 weeks remote and 1 week in office.  (Employee paid for stay in Longview for that 1 week per month)

100% Employer paid Health insurance for employee, spouse and children.

401K employer matches the first 1% at 100% and the next 6% at 50%.
