Job Title: Electrical Engineer – Power Studies (Short Circuit, Coordination and Arc-Flash Studies)

Position Overview: We are seeking a skilled Electrical Engineer with a strong focus on short circuit studies, coordination and arc flash analysis. The ideal candidate will have 3-5 years of engineering experience with ETAP and/or SKM software. Candidates should have their PE in Utah, Idaho, Arizona or Nevada.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct short circuit studies to determine fault currents and system behavior under fault conditions.
  • Perform arc flash studies to assess potential arc flash hazards and ensure compliance with safety standards.
  • Utilize ETAP and SKM software to model electrical systems, perform simulations, and generate reports.
  • Analyze and interpret data to provide recommendations for system improvements and safety measures.
  • Collaborate with project teams to integrate findings into design and operational practices.
  • Prepare detailed documentation and technical reports for client presentations and regulatory compliance.
  • Stay current with industry standards, codes, and best practices related to electrical safety and system analysis.

Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years of experience in electrical engineering with a focus on short circuit and arc flash studies.
  • Proficiency in ETAP and SKM software for electrical system analysis.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong understanding of electrical safety standards and codes (IEEE).
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Engineering degree is preferred but not required. Relevant certifications and technical training will be considered.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with other electrical modeling and analysis tools.
  • Knowledge of power system design and analysis.
  • Familiarity with industry standards such as IEEE, NFPA, and IEC.
