DESCRIPTION:
This position entails the analysis, engineering, design, and support of various manufacturing projects within the Lake Shore division. The Mechanical Design Engineer will play a vital role in designing and specifying system components to ensure compliance with engineering best practices and performance standards. Responsibilities include developing standards for existing product lines and providing pre-sales, project, and aftermarket support.
As a mechanical design engineer at the Lakeshore division, you will have the opportunity to:
• Demonstrate creativity and strategic thinking in problem-solving, developing standards, and defining project objectives.
• Prepare and present project documents, including calculations, drawings, specifications, and reports.
• Design mechanical systems, structures, and components.
• Collaborate with vendors to acquire off-the-shelf components.
• Implement modifications to existing equipment, systems, structures, and components.
• Review designs for fit, function, and accuracy.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards.
• Ensure the final solution meets both customer requirements and divisional standards.
• Test and troubleshoot mechanical systems.
• Travel intermittently, up to 25% as required.
REQUIREMENTS:
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical or Electro-Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution.
• 4 or more years of experience in mechanical or electro-mechanical engineering; machine design experience is advantageous.
• Strong project management skills.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Experience with hoists or hydraulic and pneumatic systems is desirable.
• Proficiency in Drawing Development, GD&T, Welding Specifications, Document Control, Structural Steel, and Steel Fabrication.
• Preferred ability to obtain a Professional Engineer (P.E.) license within 2 years.
• Experience with Autodesk Inventor/Vault preferred but not required.
