Our client, a leader in the field of heavy civil construction and underground mine development, is seeking an Estimator for their office in Evansville, IN.

Opportunity:

As an Estimator with our client, you will report to the Mining Division General Manager. You will have the opportunity to contribute to a variety of large, high-profile projects that significantly impact communities.


Job Description:

  • Assist with organizing and managing the bid process in conjunction with the Estimating Manager.
  • Review and analyze bid documents to develop project labor, materials, and equipment requirements and costs.
  • Travel to attend pre-bid meetings and site visits while establishing and maintaining strong relationships with clients, engineers, and consultants.
  • Consult with suppliers and subcontractors during the bidding process to determine costs.
  • Assist with the technical proposals and presentations.
  • Assist with the preparation of post-bid work plans, procurement, scheduling, and cost control.
  • Actively participate in production tracking and post-job analysis.
  • Assist with maintaining a database of historical estimates and project information records.


Requirements:

  • A bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or Construction Management is required.
  • 5 years’ experience in heavy civil, mining, construction, or a related area with good working knowledge of general engineering applications and construction practices.
  • Previous experience with field engineering, estimating, project scheduling, and technical writing required.
  • Strong computer skills with experience in Microsoft Office products, civil estimating software (preferably HCSS), and scheduling software (preferably Primavera P6).
  • Effective written communication, verbal communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to perform a variety of tasks and manage those tasks concurrently within firm timelines.
  • Ability to read and understand construction documents including contracts, specifications, and drawings.
  • Attention to detail with an emphasis on time management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to travel overnight as needed on an infrequent basis.
  • Ability and willingness to visit sites (mines and tunnels) within an underground environment.
