Industrial Project Manager

Our client is a multi-billion-dollar eCommerce company with global operations in 19 countries and a strong, loyal customer base. They have recently purchased a new 500K sq. ft. warehouse facility. Our client has a focus on wellness, promoting the physical, environmental, financial, and personal wellness of their customers. They manufacture and sell effective, high-quality, natural, health-oriented products, to help people live more vibrant, healthier, and happier lives. We are looking for an Industrial Project Manager to who is capable of using their understanding of engineering and technical leadership to solve significant technical problems to lead the design and set up of our client's new facility.


The candidate will have broad project responsibilities to set and influence the strategic direction of developing and implementing operation excellence standards in the new KC facility, develop, install and implement the latest warehouse automation technologies throughout the Facility, optimize the process flows within the facility and drive a continuous improvement culture. Collaborate with different regions and manage the sharing of best practices around the world..


Duties and Responsibilities

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.

  • Oversee equipment and vendor selection for order fulfillment equipment
  • Project Manage implementation of all order fulfillment and warehouse equipment.
  • Manage all facility upgrades
  • Developing a preventative maintenance program
  • Develop a ‘best in class’ warehouse benchmark to measure DC productivity and costs and be able to initiate continuous improvement projects and reduce overall cost of operations.
  • Drive various Engineering studies across the facility to optimize the process flows to improve productivity and warehouse space configuration to improve space utilization.
  • Collaborate with regional leaders in evaluating latest automation technologies and developing a solution that optimizes the DC throughput, improves quality and overall operations.
  • Support global distribution teams in running the ‘Should Cost’ model during warehouse RFP process and also while evaluating cost performance of existing DCs.


A Day in the Life

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.

  • Analyzes and designs sequence of operations and work flow to improve efficiencies in DC and production facilities and equipment layouts; and establishes methods for maximum utilization of production facilities and personnel.
  • May establish or assist in establishing accident prevention measures and may manage training programs for personnel concerning all phases of production operations.
  • Conducts studies pertaining to cost control, cost reduction, inventory control, and production record systems.
  • On the basis of these studies, develops and implements plans and programs for facility modifications and revisions to operating methods.
  • May assist facilities engineers in the planning and design of facilities.


Must Have: Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelors degree required
  • Requires a University Degree and minimum of 5-8 years of relevant experience


Additional Requirements:

  • Deep expertise in lean methodology and Kaizen/ continuous improvement principles within distribution and warehouse operations.
  • Expertise in warehouse time standards, productivity benchmarks, and labor management methods.
  • Experience in warehouse flow design, automation technologies and space optimization.
  • Knowledge on different storage methods and material handling equipment.
  • Familiarity with development of warehouse cost models, RFP process with 3PLs.
  • A significant amount of experience in process improvements projects and Lean 6-sigma principles.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Excellent leadership and mentoring skills.
  • Broad background and experience in Distribution (preferably medical device). In depth understanding of operations administration functions including finance, IT, quality and regulatory, among others.
